With the support of Creighton University, Project Homeless Connect Omaha has helped over 5,000 of the area's homeless find housing, needed services, healthcare, hair styles and over 300 sets dentures and 500 pair of glasses. Over 5,000 volunteers have committed their time to making this event one the most significant events in the metro's history for the homeless. The engagement and cooperation of public officials in municipal, county, and state government, as well as local business leaders and the general public has been remarkable in creating a cooperative service strategy that, as Mike Saklar former Executive Director at Siena/Francis House put it, "initiates a first time action" for many of the area's homeless.
In 2019, over 625 of the area's homeless made their way through over 40 service providers as well as medical and dental staff distributed around five basketball courts. And, thanks to Xenon Academy's tireless volunteers, most of the homeless received haircuts.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished over 13 years of Project Homeless Connect Omaha. Sadly this project has been retired, however we’d still like to show you some of our accomplishments and tell you how to launch your own event.
